Conversion rate optimisation is the practice of increasing the percerntage of users that complete a specified goal, a ‘conversion’ on your website. These actions can include things like purchasing, adding to cart, registering their email address, making a booking, clicking a link or just about any measurable action you can imagine.
How do you calculate conversion rate?
Conversion rate can be calculated by dividing the number of goal actions (conversions) by the number of visitors and multiplying by 100 to get a percentage.
Example: Your website has 500 sales and 10,000 visitors last month, your conversion rate is 500 divided by 10,000 times 100 = 5%
Average conversion rates by industry
Conversion rates vary by industry, audience and brand. Nobody can tell you precisely what your conversion rate should be.
